Abundance and Money

Although most us deny it, we healers, teachers, and shamans act as if money is a dirty word. We prefer the word abundance. It sounds more noble. By using it instead of money, we avoid the taint of greed that surrounds the word money like an aura. Rather than acknowledge that we need or want money, we drape it with words like love, happiness, and health and then call it abundance.  We attempt to hide our what-we-consider-petty desire for money between those loftier ideals the way a self-conscious man will hide his Playboy between issues of Time and Newsweek. By calling it abundance, we feel better when we approach Spirit or God with our requests for what we really want, which is more money.Instead of cozying up to the  soft, fuzzy comfort of abundance, we need to face the sharp edges of our desire for money--our negative attitudes and beliefs. These negative attitudes and beliefs towards money must be confronted because they shape our perceptions, control our behaviors, and stop us from making money. In order to change our negative attitudes towards money, we first need to expose them. The first step is to throw out the word abundance. If you need money, ask for it. Don't disguise your need with the fluff of abundance.  Tell Spirit, "I need more money!" Then notice how you feel. If you feel dirty or small or just out of sorts, then you probably hold a negative belief or association to money. Once you recognize the truth of what you want, you can begin to heal it and change your relationship to money.By the way, you can still have health, happiness, and love. Wanting money doesn't mean you can't have those too.
